Due to her professional education in chemistry, Getta got employment with the Petrochim Technical Institute – Design and Projection Section – in Ploiesti, going through many managerial levels, until she reached the top of the ladder as chief project engineer, a capacity she worked in for 17 years, until she left Romania (together with her family) for the United States of America. In 1967, Getta married Constantin Jercan (an economist, whose expertise was the free market economy, thus working in free market commerce, in Ploiesti).Getta, her husband Constantin, and their two (2) children, Catalin-Constantin and Razvan-George (born in Romania), immigrated in the USA, in 1982, through the process of family reunification (Constantin’s parents having already settled in America) to pursue their American dream.Initially, the Jercans joined Constantin’s parents in Minneapolis, Minesotta, where they lived for a few months, and then, towards the end of 1982, they decided to move to and settle permanently in Los Angeles, California. The following year, 1983, the family grew by the birth of the 3rd son, Michael-Dorin.To accomplish her professional ambitions, Getta pursued higher education in the US in order to attain the same equivalency as her Romanian certifications within her chosen field of “technical designer and engineer.” Both Getta and Constantin pursued their vocational training (Getta taking evening classes in computer design and business management) while, during the day, the Jercans worked various jobs (Real Estate Management and Administration with renown Management Companies like “Frasco Inc.”, 1985-1989, and then from 1989 up to the present, with the prestigious Firm "Stanley Management" (a Managerial Company in Southern California), supervising and managing over a dozen of income properties in Southern California.Since the Jercan’s arrival in Los Angeles in 1982, they joined the Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church as members, continuing unceasingly to support the church, both personally and materially, herself (as well as her husband, Constantin, until his passing-on at the beginning of 2010) thus fulfilling various callings and duties such as: parish council member, president of the parish Ladies Aid, chairwoman of various parish festive banquets, Board of Directors’ secretary, auditor, and chairwoman of so many special parish activities' projects, etc.).Since the incorporation of Eastern Orthodox Heritage Foundation (2006), Getta was also a member of the Board of Directors, and also accepted appointment as Treasurer of Stumval Corporation, Inc.References upon request. |
